Time Duration Calculator SG
Find the exact duration between two dates and times — in days, hours, minutes and seconds.
How it works
Pick a start and an end date-and-time. The calculator returns the exact gap broken down into days, hours and minutes, and also as total hours, minutes and seconds. If the end is before the start, it shows the absolute duration.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate the duration between two times?
Convert both times to a single unit such as minutes, subtract the start from the end, then convert back to days, hours and minutes.
Does it work across midnight?
Yes. When the end is on a later day, the calculator adds the extra days so the duration rolls over midnight correctly.
How do I express a duration in minutes?
Multiply hours by 60 and add the minutes. 18 hours 45 minutes is 1,125 minutes.
What is the difference between duration and time of day?
Time of day is a clock reading; duration is the elapsed gap between two such readings.
How do I convert a duration to decimal hours?
Divide the minutes by 60 and add to the hours — 45 minutes is 0.75, so 18 hours 45 minutes is 18.75 hours.
Time Duration Calculator
This calculator finds the duration between two points in time — the days, hours and minutes that have elapsed between a start and an end.
How duration is calculated
It converts both the start and end into a single measure (for example total minutes), subtracts one from the other, then expresses the result in days, hours and minutes.
Worked example
From 14:20 on one day to 09:05 the next day is 18 hours 45 minutes. The calculator handles the rollover across midnight for you.
Other units
The same duration can be shown in minutes (1,125), in hours (18.75) or in seconds, depending on what you need — useful for logging, billing or timing tasks.
