Hourly to Salary Calculator US
Convert an hourly rate into weekly, monthly and annual salary.
How it works
Compound interest earns returns on both your original money and the returns already added. Adding a regular monthly contribution accelerates growth further over time.
A = P(1 + r/n)^(nt) + contributions compounded monthly- Longer time horizons benefit most from compounding
- More frequent compounding gives slightly higher growth
- The donut shows how much of your final balance is interest vs money you put in.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert hourly pay to an annual salary?
Multiply your hourly rate by your weekly hours and by the weeks you work per year. Full-time is usually rate ร 2,080.
What is the 2,080-hour rule?
It is 40 hours per week times 52 weeks, the standard full-time hours used to annualise an hourly wage.
How do I handle part-time hours?
Use your actual annual hours instead of 2,080 โ weekly hours multiplied by the number of weeks you work.
Does the result include overtime?
No. It converts base pay only. Overtime, typically 1.5ร your rate beyond 40 hours a week, is extra.
Is the annual figure before or after tax?
Before tax. Income tax and FICA are withheld from it, so your take-home pay is lower.
How do I convert a salary back to hourly?
Divide the annual salary by your annual hours โ $52,000 รท 2,080 = $25 per hour for full-time.
Turning an hourly wage into an annual salary
To annualise an hourly wage, multiply it by the hours you work per week and then by the number of weeks you work per year. For standard full-time work that is 40 hours ร 52 weeks = 2,080 hours, so the quick formula is hourly rate ร 2,080.
Worked example
At $25 an hour full time: 25 ร 2,080 = $52,000 a year, about $4,333 a month. At $18 an hour it is $37,440; at $40 an hour it is $83,200. These are gross figures before tax.
Part-time and real-world hours
If you do not work a full 40-hour week, swap 2,080 for your actual annual hours. Someone working 30 hours a week for 50 weeks works 1,500 hours, so $20 an hour is $30,000. Unpaid leave reduces the total, while paid time off is usually already included in the 2,080-hour basis.
What it leaves out
This conversion covers base pay only. Overtime (often 1.5ร the regular rate over 40 hours a week in the US), bonuses, tips and shift differentials add to real earnings, while taxes and deductions reduce take-home pay below the gross annual figure.
